WFD and Water Management

How is
Each EU Member should prepare and implement a management plan for surface and groundwater in its own territory.
This project lasts 6 years and then followed by another project.

You must properly manage the water!

When is
December 2006
Operation programs for monitoring and controlling water.

First public consultation

December 2007
Preliminary presentation of important issues for water management.

Second public consultation

December 2008

Presentation of the draft will include measures to be taken for water management.

Third public consultation

December 2009

Completion and publication of the plan will include the necessary measures for water management (Draft River Basin Management).

December 2012

Preparing to implement the necessary measures to improve water quality.

December 2015

Time limit in which the water should be in good chemical and ecological status.

2015 - 2021

Period of implementation of a new management plan and resumption of consultations.
